Before I got involved with Tailored Edge, I
would characterize my fashion style as 'average'
and ' nondescript.' I wasn't
a BAD dresser, per se - my wardrobe consisted
largely of solid-color dress shirts, college
tee shirts, and pleated Dockers. I knew I was
in trouble when I was the only one of my colleagues
who stated on a survey that my preference was
business attire instead of jeans casual. Deep
down, I knew that I wanted to be more fashionable
- I just didn't know how to bring about this
change.
During my first experience with Tailored Edge,
they made it clear that I should stay true to
myself and develop a style that best suited
my personality. Before we even got started,
we talked at length about my personal and professional
lifestyle to understand the image that I was
trying to portray. Come to find out, my professional
wardrobe was right on, I just needed help with
my casual gear. Not only did Taylor make a visit
to my home
to clean out my wardrobe, he also spent the
day with me in pre-selected stores that definitely
took into consideration my style and budget.
While keeping my preferences in mind, Taylor
encouraged me to try on clothing that I normally
would have skipped over - and most of the time,
I was very pleasantly surprised by what I saw
in the mirror. Given my comfort with my professional
attire, Taylor encouraged me to continue wearing
button ups, just a slimmer, more stylish version
of your typical work shirt. He also helped me
to pick out a few blazers that gave me the sophisticated
look I was used to with a casual, comfortable
twist. I also bought a few staple items in colors
that I would have otherwise passed over. By
the end of the day, I had assembled a collection
of clothing items that I was eager to show off
but still fit with the things I already owned.
I have made significant strides in defining
my character and feel much more comfortable
in my skin. Getting dressed on the weekend has
actually become pretty fun for me. I still call
upon Tailored Edge to answer one of questions
a few times a month. After all, you can't become
a pro over night.
